Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and a singer. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. It was also the time that a Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her professional career working with highly acclaimed actors, directors, and stage performers across TV and film. She continues that award-winning work with numerous new projects in the pipeline. Ashford's next project will be an exclusive Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford's current film will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and starring Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will stream on Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford will return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is taking place at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford previously starred as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the crisis in America that picked into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment proceeding in nearly a century. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS show that was a huge success, B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her character Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Her additional Broadway roles include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Growing up in Denver Ashford now splits her days between Los Angeles and New York.
